Thank you for your posting.
Perhaps this link will assist. The first link was police report #25. The new one is Police report # 18. Police Report #18 was taken by Detective Short November 1, 2001 in the early morning hours. Detective Short did not take this report in person but by phone. This is unusual as Micheal Boyd was the last person to see the victim alive. Please take a few minutes and compare the two reports with each other. I think you will see that Mr Boyd told two different stories within a few short hours of each other. Yet nothing was ever done with this witness. Mike Henry does not seem to have anything to do with the death of the victim. Mr. Boyd was never investigated? http://www.freeryanferguson.com/pdfs/PR_18_Boyd_11-01-01.pdf |

Short did not take this report in person but by phone. This is unusual as Micheal Boyd was the last person to see the victim alive. It is unfortunate that there was no personal observation by the detective since there was apparently a fight of some duration and it was likely the assailant of any big, strong lifelong athlete would bear some indications of the event the next day. It is even more unfortunate that the 'last person to see the victim alive' (the usual starting point in an investigation) was not investigated promptly since it appears that the crime scene indicated an assault likely initiated by someone the victim trusted sufficiently to allow a close approach without any concern. It is perhaps indicative of the overall quality of the investigation that the "usual suspect" was not even observed or treated as if he were a suspect or potential suspect. I don't off hand know of ANY other homicide case wherein the last person to see the decedent was accorded nothing more than a brief telephone chat by the police. |
