The State of Missouri DOC has a website which shows all inmates photos. In Erickson's recent photos he looks crazy. I hope the new motion for a mental health evaluation on him is granted.

Alot of kids look crazy. Its no big deal these days. His mental status as of the time of trial is perhaps relevant and his present mental status is a rather poor indication of what it was then.

The real problem is that whatever motivated Chuck Erickson to seek attention in his peer group for some fanciful 'dreams' that he probably never even had, it really doesn't constitute a distinct mental illness. He was lonely, confused, probably doing drugs to some degree and his circle of friends was starkly diminishing. He did something that set him apart and made him "a big fish in a small pond". Just because we would not choose that particular pond does not mean that he did not feel that pond was his destiny anyway.
